Mission
The Colombian Student Association at Purdue, CSAP, along with the Colombia Purdue Partnership, CPP, present the proposal for the development of the bi-annual “Virtual Colombian Research Symposium 2020 at Purdue”.
This event is developed with three main objectives:
To strengthen the bonds among the Colombian community at Purdue, Midwest, and in Colombia.
To showcase to members of the Purdue academic community and the world the different ongoing research done by Colombians, leading to potential collaborations.
To gain a broader perspective on current necessities and opportunities in Colombia.
Colombia is currently the 5th largest international community at Purdue University, as well as one of the largest academic communities in universities in the USA. This event will allow strengthening the bonds between Colombia and Purdue University, which have manifested in the past years through several programs such as collaboration, student exchanges, and graduate student admission.
Past Events
Purdue University has a vibrant community of Colombian students and scholars fostered by Purdue-Colombia collaborations. This is a great opportunity for the students to present their work and interact with distinguished members from academia.
This academic event, hosted by the Colombian Student Association at Purdue CSAP, with the support of the Colombian Purdue Partnership, showcases the research contributions in topics relevant to our country. The event intends to recognize and promote sustained knowledge, research, and innovations conceived by our people.
Progresso: Research Contribution from Latin America, Spotlight: Colombia
Fall 2015
In fall 2015, the members of CSAP board decided to have an academic event named “Progresso: Research Contribution from Latin America, Spotlight: Colombia”. This event had the objectives of showcasing the ongoing research that Colombians are conducting in the U.S and generate discussion and research initiatives on research topics related to Colombia. The meeting was held on-campus at Purdue University and brought together more than 200 undergraduate and graduate-level Colombian students from Purdue.
Latino Research: Talento Local y de Exportación
Fall 2016
A second version of the meeting was held during fall 2016 at Purdue University, named “Latino Research: Talento Local y de Exportación”. In these two versions of the symposium, we had the pleasure to have keynote speakers such as Ana Maria Rey, Colombian theoretical physicist, and professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and Cesar Ocampo, a prominent Colombian scientist in the area of Astrodynamics and former director of the Administrative Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation in Colombia, Colciencias.
