
Agostinho Almeida
Director of the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4RI)
Agostinho Almeida holds an MBA, has executive training in Tech Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital and Private Equity and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences. In the beginning of his career, he worked in Universities and Research institutions in different countries, obtaining several honors and awards.
He has also had experience in life sciences and IT innovation from idea conception to first stage investment, in sectors such as pharma, biomedical devices, telemedicine and food industry. In 2011, Agostinho co-founded Venture Catalysts, a Portuguese company focused on developing globally competitive tech-based ventures. Within Venture Catalysts, two additional companies were launched, raising up to date over €2.0M. He was also an Investment Manager in a Venture Capital Fund in Colombia for over three years, helping manage a USD 20M fund.
Agostinho was also the COO of RutaN, the business and innovation center in Medellín, Colombia where he has helped develop strategic and innovative programs to help transform the city towards a knowledge-based economy, leading relationships with top public, private and academic entities.
Currently, Agostinho is the Director of the Center for the 4th Industrial Revolution in Colombia, affiliate to the World Economic Forum.
